Crabs were all the craze with a pregnant woman in
tow and a bunch of equally ravenous folks. We settled for Keng Eng Kee
Seafood after one had a satisfying meal there.
Sambal Kang Kong
This packed enough spice to whet the appetites for a good meal!
Stir Fried Kailan
Seemingly boring without my favourite baby kalian, loved that it was served piping hot!
Pork Ribs
Ming Zhu Roll
Raving reviews of this made this a must order. This
is tau pok stuffed with Chinese ham, cucumber, prawns and a mass of
others that came together like a crispy snack. Felt that it lacked
flavour.
Yam Ring
This is terribly old school and possibly a must
order for dinners that I have attended in the 80’s. Yet seeing it again
on the dining table brings a smile. I love digging into the crispy yam
ring and relishing the smooth texture of mashed
yam. In cases like these, all attention is paid to the ring instead of
the stuffing.
Salted Egg Prawns
Each prawn was generously lathered in a delectable salted egg marinate. Loved it that the prawns were fresh too.
Chilli Crab with Mantou
Watery and too sweet, the chilli crab was a clear
letdown, albeit crabs were fresh and meat succulent. It was seemingly
put together by steaming the crabs and drizzling it with chilli crab
gravy. Major pity here when we all thought that
the salted egg version would have been homerun-kinda-awesome. Their
mantous are hardly like the rest I have attempted, flower shaped and
tasteless when all along they have been sweetened.
With all the crowds, I am trying to find a reason
to return. Perhaps the yam ring? Above average zichar but pick the
dishes properly!
Keng Eng Kee Seafood
Block 124, #01-136Bukit Merah Lane 1 (Alexandra Village)
You're right...the salted egg and black pepper versions of the crabs r must-trys here. That would have made the meal much more memorable. The rest r merely average only.
ReplyDelete@bern: SIGH!! my companions refused to budge on their choice.
