Fat Cow @ Camden Medical Center

entrance

Fat Cow has been on the dining agenda for way too long and finally I did. Located in Camden Medical Center, trust a medical center to have such food gems and people do travel far and wide for good food indeed.

sakura

We were greeted by a very welcoming display of sakura, courtesy of Veuve Cliquot. I would love to fly to Japan just for these beautiful blooms but until then, this is good enough.

shelf of whiskeys

Whilst waiting for our table, we had some time to oogle at their range of Japanese whiskies. If it is any gauge, the whiskey lover was head over heels and has made a mental note for a return just for them.

shelves

We were quickly ushered to our counter seats and there, I was enamoured by their shelving! #quirksofahomeowner

table

And then of course, quickly refocussed my attention to the meal ahead.

appetizers

The trio of appetizers to kickstart our set lunches.

salad

Salad with a dash of wafu dressing - very hearty and satisfying indeed.

chawanmushi

Chawanmushi with crabmeat, prawns and mushroom is such a treat. Even I, usually not a fan of chawanmushi fell head over heels in love with this.

miso soup

Miso soup for the soul - very tasty and hearty with a generous chunk of seaweed. I completely dislike my miso soup with tofu diced so tiny and non existent seaweed strips.

bara chirashi

Bara Chirashi ($34)

These days the hubba and I have been hooked on Chirashi dons. Undoubtedly comprising of very premium and fresh sashimi, this was definitely a notch up a couple of places.

fat cow donburi

The Fat Cow Donburi ($38)

Charcoal grilled wagyu beef with onsen egg, shiro negi

I was sold on truffle. The amazing scents that came wafting from the bowl.

pink

Oogle at the delicious sear in my choice of medium.

wagyu egg yolk

I could not bear to mix this all up but please prod the onsen egg, mix it uniformly like you would for bimbimbap and let the egg juice coat each grain of rice and then take one hearty spoonful. Umami in every bite I'd say and there was just too many good things happening all at once. For once, a dish that does wagyu beef ample justice.

creme brulee

Creme brulee icecream to end off the meal - instead of the pedestrian green tea or red bean or even yuzu icecream. So smooth, so good!

There is free parking offered too for the first hour as well - more reason to head back! We have plans to return but for a special occasion to check out their dinner menu - I am hoping a very special occasion would arrive soon enough for this!
